Our Pastor

The Rev. Jose-Luis La Torre-Cuadros was born in Lima, Peru and he was ordained into pastoral ministry on October 31, 1998. In February 1992 he married Luz Elena (Lucy) Miranda, interpreter and translator. They have two children: Nicolas and Miranda.

Pastor Jose-Luis earned a degree in Law and Political Science from San Marcos University in Peru and he worked as a lawyer before entering the Evangelical Seminary of Lima.  In 2002-2003 he pursued his Masters in Philosophy at San Marcos University. His last call in Peru was to the Lutheran Congregation Cristo Rey in Lima, where he was involved in the theological education of new leaders and in ecumenical affairs. From September 2005 to 2011 he served as an Associate Pastor at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sacramento CA.

He also served as the Dean of the Sacramento Conference and the ELCA Sierra Pacific Synod Council (member at large) in CA. Later, as Bishop´s Assistant, Pastor Jose Luis provided care and connection with congregations, pastors, congregations in transition and call processes. On Nov 22nd, 2015 Pastor Jose-Luis started to serve the Lutheran church of Our Saviour in Tampa FL.
