| "Providing
emergency food to needy families, elderly, and the
homeless in our community."
The Lutheran Church
of Our Saviour has a long history in helping the
needy. Kaye Prox began this ministry in the
70's and worked tirelessly until her death in 2002.
The Kaye Prox Food
Bank now serves 90 to 100 families a week on
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:00 pm until
4:30 pm.
We also server the area 30-40 homeless on the same
days. Home deliveries are provided to the most
needy in our community twice a month.
This volunteer
ministry is unique because we have joined forces
with three other churches. Incarnation
Catholic Church, First Reformed Presbyterian and
Wesley Memorial United Methodist are all full
partners in our effort to relieve the hunger in our
community. Our partner churches do monthly
food drives, monetary donations and provide valued
volunteers. we also have volunteers from the
community that may not have a church affiliation or
are not a member of a partner church. The
requirement of being a volunteer is "a desire to
help the needy."
The Kaye Prox Food
Bank is a member of America's Second Harvest and
Tampa Bay Harvest. This affiliation helps us
obtain food at handling fee prices and food that
would normally be destroyed.
Volunteer
opportunities are available outside the food bank
hours. We need people to make sandwiches for
the homeless, pickup bakery items from Publix on
Mondays and Fridays and help when we have a food
delivery...

only you can fill." - Thomas Kinkade |
